The Extension in Cobb County to Begin Construction on New Men’s Facility to Combat Homelessness & Substance Abuse with Help of $1 Million Gift from AssuranceAmerica
May 12, 2022 — Last month, The Extension held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new men’s campus in Marietta. Scheduled for completion in fall 2023, the new facility will increase The Extension’s capacity to help men struggling with homelessness and substance abuse in our community. The 22,000-square-foot campus will include a 56-bed dormitory with meeting rooms, recreational areas, and a cafeteria.
The Extension’s Building Solutions campaign to raise funds for the new facility launched with a lead matching gift of $1 million from AssuranceAmerica. The company’s support served as the single largest private gift in the organization’s history and set the tone for the campaign’s fundraising success — the initial purpose of visionary Guy Millner who championed this initiative as Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of AssuranceAmerica.
“This is exactly the type of initiative we believe in,” explains Scott Pitrone, AssuranceAmerica President and COO. “We give a portion of our profits to several community organizations including The Extension, all in line with our corporate priorities.”
